We keep this simple: Cappa AI uses the minimum data needed to create captions, process purchases, and keep the app reliable.

What we collect
- A short extracted-audio sample for automatic language detection and extracted audio from videos you choose for caption generation.
- Your spoken-language, subtitle-language, script, translation, style, and export choices.
- Caption text and timing created for your request.
- An app-generated install or request identifier, app version, error information, and network metadata needed to operate and protect the service.
- Subscription and entitlement status if you purchase Pro through Apple, with subscription access managed through RevenueCat.
How we use it
- To detect language, generate captions, render exports, and deliver the features you request.
- To keep the service stable, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and improve reliability.
- To verify purchase access, restore subscriptions, and manage Pro features.
Permissions
- Photos: to import source videos and save exported videos.
Your permission
Before Cappa sends extracted audio for language detection or caption generation, the app explains what will be sent and asks for your permission. You can choose “Not now” and no audio will be sent.
Processing and third-party services
Your selected full video stays on your device. If you give permission, Cappa sends extracted audio, your language and output choices, and an app-generated install identifier through Cappa’s secure server to the captioning provider listed below. Editing preview, styling, and final video export happen on your device.
Cappa sends caption-generation requests to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text for speech recognition, speaker detection, word timing, language detection, and supported caption language output. Google receives only the data needed to perform the feature you requested and is required to provide the same or equivalent protection under its applicable contractual and privacy obligations.
Purchases are processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier plus purchase and entitlement information so Cappa can show plans, unlock Pro, and restore purchases.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Retention
Cappa deletes extracted audio after the request finishes, apart from brief in-flight temporary handling needed to complete it. We do not retain generated caption content after processing. Operational logs may retain the app-generated identifier, request status, app version, error details, and network metadata for security, abuse prevention, debugging, and reliability, but are not intended to contain your audio or caption content.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled through Apple. RevenueCat manages anonymous subscription and entitlement status used to present plans, unlock Pro, and restore purchases.
Children
Cappa AI is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can help.
