What we collect
- Extracted audio from videos you choose, only when needed to generate captions.
- Caption text, timing, language choices, and export settings created for your project.
- Basic technical data needed to operate the service, such as request logs, app version details, error information, and network metadata.
- Subscription and entitlement status if you purchase Pro through Apple and RevenueCat.
How we use it
- To detect language, generate captions, render exports, and deliver the features you request.
- To keep the service stable, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and improve reliability.
- To verify purchase access, restore subscriptions, and manage Pro features.
Permissions
- Photos: to import source videos and save exported videos.
Processing and sharing
Your selected video stays on your device for editing and export. For caption generation, the app extracts audio and sends that audio to our backend and supported transcription providers so captions can be created. Editing preview, styling, and final video export happen on your iPhone.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Retention
We do not keep extracted audio or generated caption content after processing is complete, except for brief in-flight handling needed to finish the request. Operational logs may be retained for security, abuse prevention, debugging, and reliability.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled through Apple. Subscription state and paywall presentation may be managed through RevenueCat.
Children
Cappa AI is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can help.
